Every September, Washington becomes the most concentrated gathering of Black political power, capital, and culture in the country. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's 55th Annual Legislative Conference runs September 16–20, but the week starts moving days before the first gavel.
This isn't a list of everything happening in the city. There are well over a hundred events on the calendar, and most of them are a happy hour with a hashtag. This is a curated guide to the rooms worth your time, your energy, or your money, organized by what you'll walk out with.
Whether you're chasing capital, closing a contract, building your industry network, or just trying to be where the energy is right, this is your roadmap.
Some of the best rooms this week never post a public link. Events marked Connectors & Dealmakers or Insider have their RSVP links, door contacts, and BPN allocations released inside the community space. Join at mybpn.org/join →
Treat this like a menu, not a checklist. Status is marked on every entry and reflects what we could verify at publication: OPEN, WAITLIST, SOLD OUT, or INVITE ONLY. Sold-out rooms stay in the guide on purpose — lists move, people release tickets, and knowing the room exists is worth something. Always confirm with the host before you head out.
Power & Policy
For policy professionals, advocates, and government affairs leaders. If your work touches legislation, regulation, or public office — or if you need the people who shape it to know your name — start here. The Hill, the caucuses, the delegations: rooms where narrative and influence get set, and where being seen is the point.
Microsoft's Black Men on the Hill Kick-Off Reception
The unofficial open of the week. Microsoft backs it, which is why the room skews senior before anyone else has landed. Hill staff, policy operators, and the men who will be in every other room all week.
Level Up: A Celebration of Black Women Leaders
Emerge Black Leadership Circle and Seated Together convene the women running campaigns, committees, and organizations, plus the current Seated Together cohort of Black elected officials. Small, rooftop, and the address only goes out to confirmed guests.
ALC Braintrusts
Hosted by Reps. Beatty, Brown, and Sykes. This is the actual policy core of the conference, and the part most people skip for the receptions. Skipping it is a mistake: the braintrusts are where the agenda gets set that everyone else spends the year reacting to.
BEA Local and State Solutions Forum
Black Economic Alliance puts three Black mayors on one stage: Monroe Nichols of Tulsa, Steven L. Reed of Montgomery, and Paul Young of Memphis. Economic policy from the people who actually control municipal budgets and contracts.
Mayor Bowser & DC Council CBC Washington Leadership Reception
The city's official welcome to the caucus. Mayor Bowser, Chairman Mendelson, and the full DC Council. If you want one room that puts you in front of local power and visiting power at the same time, this is it.
Prince George's County CBC Elevated Reception
County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy hosts the wealthiest majority-Black county in America in the MGM National Harbor Grand Ballroom. Black-tie, invitation-only, 400+ leaders across government, business, philanthropy, and the arts. Not a walk-up room: entry runs through VIP status, sponsorship, or elected office.
Sens. Ossoff & Warnock Host CBC Reception on Capitol Hill
Inside the Capitol, hosted by both Georgia senators. Rare access to the building itself, not a hotel ballroom near it.
Meet & Greet with Sen. Cory Booker
Hosted by Sen. Benjie E. Wimberly (NJ) and Sen. Nick Charles (MD). Five hours, one senator, and a list that is not circulating publicly. If you have ever wanted an unhurried conversation with a national figure instead of a handshake in a receiving line, this is the format.
Aflac Lifetime Achievement Award Reception
Six members of Congress in one ballroom: Reps. Gregory Meeks, Sanford Bishop, Hank Johnson, Lucy McBath, Nikema Williams, and Sen. Raphael Warnock. Hosted by Aflac in the Presidential Ballroom. This is what a room looks like when a Fortune 500 decides to show up properly.
10 Year Anniversary Collective Power Brunch
The Collective PAC and The Vote To Live Action Fund mark ten years of building Black political infrastructure. At $250+ the price is the curation, and proceeds go back into the work.
Influencers Brunch: A Conversation on Justice, Power & Culture
In partnership with the DC Chamber of Commerce. A conversation bringing together voices shaping culture, policy, and power for a candid mid-day sit-down over brunch.
Phoenix Awards Dinner
The CBCF's black-tie centerpiece. Every other event on this calendar is scheduled around it. If you attend one ticketed thing all week, attend this.
Skyline Reception
Six delegations in one room: NY, IL, NJ, PA, DE, and RI. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Gregory Meeks, CBC Chair Yvette Clarke, Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester, and Reps. Robin Kelly, Lauren Underwood, Jonathan Jackson, LaMonica McIver, Dwight Evans, and Gabe Amo. The hardest ticket of the weekend, and not by accident.
The Rooms Don't Open Themselves
Half the events worth attending this week never post a public link. BPN members get the RSVP, the door contact, and the allocation — plus a year-round community of Black professionals building toward ownership.
Join at mybpn.org/joinCapital & Ownership
For founders and investors. Business owners raising or deploying capital, operators chasing contracts, and anyone whose next move is acquisition rather than promotion. Investment, acquisition, franchising, government contracting: rooms where money actually changes hands and ownership gets discussed as a plan, not a dream.
Invest in Africa: Tatu City, Kenya
The Burns Brothers and Ambassador (ret.) Linda Thomas-Greenfield open the week with real estate investment and development opportunities in Tatu City, Kenya. Not a panel about the diaspora — an actual deal room for cross-continental ownership, hosted by a former U.S. Ambassador to the UN. The guest list is strictly enforced.
CBC GovCon Networking Event
Titanium Government Strategy Group and Polytechnic Consulting convene prime contractors, subcontractors, small business leaders, and federal agency representatives. Five and a half hours built for partnership-building, not mingling. If government revenue is on your P&L or you want it to be, this is the most direct room on the calendar.
Culture, Capital & Community Mixer
The highest price point of the pre-week, held inside the Porsche Studio. The night splits three ways: The Room for open connection, The Boardroom for a whisky and oyster tasting, and The Backroom Lounge for wine and live music. Entrepreneurs get 90 seconds to pitch, with select pitches amplified on Backroom's channels. The cost is the filter, and everyone in the room knows it.
Coffee & Conversation: The Power of Black Economic Mobility, Capital & Opportunity
Hosted by Engage with Impact at The Gathering Spot DC, with premium coffee from official beverage sponsor Commonwealth Joe. A curated executive breakfast convening corporate executives, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, government affairs leaders, and civic leaders, built around a candid fireside conversation with Congressman Everton Blair, moderated by Kenasha Paul, Founder & CEO of Black Professionals Network. A morning room before the noise starts, which means people are sober, present, and actually listening. The best conversations of CBC Week happen before noon.
Harness Our Power (HOP) C-Suite Breakfast
The single highest concentration of Black executive decision-makers on the entire calendar, and it happens over breakfast. Small table, no stage, no step-and-repeat. If you are operating at or selling into the C-suite, nothing else this week compares.
The Angel Table: Funding, Resources & Real Connections
Presented by The Missing Middle and Street Angels, LLC. The premise: most CBC rooms hand you a stack of cards and nothing that moves your work. This one matches you before you arrive. You declare what you need and what you have at registration, and the team builds specific introductions from it, then stops the room at 4:45 to name the matches made live. Doors at 3, four short talks at 3:30, structured matching from 3:45, the reveal at 4:45. Business casual. Come with a need, leave with a name.
NBEC Urban Leadership Reception 2026
Billed on the invite as Ascended: Black Excellence on the Rise. The National Black Empowerment Council's annual gathering of business and civic leadership. Gallery setting, late slot, and a crowd that stays.
2026 USBC BLACKprint Policy Brunch
Supported by JPMorgan Chase. The subject is the "Silver Tsunami": millions of business owners heading toward retirement, and the acquisition window that opens behind them. Access to capital, succession planning, and M&A as a path to Black ownership. Speakers include Ron Busby Sr. and Talisha Hill Bekavac of the U.S. Black Chambers, and Imani Augustus of Third Way's Center for Entrepreneurial Opportunity.
ABCs of African American Hotel Investment, Ownership & Multicultural Tourism Workshop
NABHOOD runs the only session all week on hotel ownership as an asset class. Hospitality is one of the few sectors where Black ownership is measurably growing, and this workshop is where that pipeline gets built.
Industry Rooms
For operators and sector specialists. Technologists, clinicians, engineers, builders, creatives, and consultants who want the room organized around their expertise instead of their zip code. Tech, health, transportation, construction, media, energy: rooms organized around what you know and who else knows it.
Mind, Body & Machine: A Google Productivity & Wellness Event
Listed by the host as "Mindful Tech: A Wellness Experience by Google." Techsgiving and Google open the tech track inside the Georgetown store, with AI-powered tools and Google hardware aimed at burnout, focus, and healthier digital habits. Space is genuinely limited, so only RSVP if you're going.
Virtual Reality in Public Safety Mixer
Axon and Techsgiving open their DC house for live VR demos and a look at how the technology is reshaping public safety, plus Techsgiving's workforce pathways into AI, VR, and public-sector work. The policy stakes here are enormous and Black technologists are badly underrepresented in the rooms writing the roadmap.
The MOMENTS Caucus Launch Reception
Congress is launching a caucus for movies, music, entertainment, and sports, and this is the room where it happens. Co-chaired by Reps. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) and Troy Carter (LA-02), with TikTok, STARZ, the Black Music Collective, and the Recording Academy in the building. Where culture, creators, and policy finally sit at the same table. The list is extremely tight and it is not on any public spreadsheet.
Black in Health Policy CBC Reception
Reps. Terri Sewell, Steven Horsford, Emilia Sykes, and John James. Four members of Congress at a free reception is not normal. If you work anywhere near health, pharma, or public health policy, go.
AI In Action Mixer
Second year running, and the corporate bench got deeper: Techsgiving and Great Energy Group with Salesforce and LinkedIn. Salesforce recruiters and leaders will be onsite with open roles, and LinkedIn is running a Rock Your Profile table plus a raffle for a six-month Premium subscription. AI is the loudest conversation in Washington right now, and this is the room where it comes with an actual job pipeline attached.
3rd Annual Transportation Industry Reception
Infrastructure dollars and contracting relationships live here. Unglamorous, invite-only, and one of the most commercially useful rooms of the week.
Brain Trust x Black Tech Collective Leadership & Technology Reception
The Brain Trust and The Black Tech Collective convene 150 to 200 leaders working at the seam between technology and policy. The Black Tech Collective builds community and career pathways for Black technologists; the Brain Trust brings the leadership and convening muscle. Together they put engineers, founders, executives, and the policy people shaping tech regulation in one room at The Spire, on the busiest night of the week.
NABWIC 2026 CBC Reception
The National Association of Black Women in Construction, with a main reception and a VIP reception in the Embassy Suites ballroom. Members of Congress, federal agency officials, prime contractors, and developers in one room. Construction and the trades are where a lot of quiet Black wealth is being built, and this is the network doing it.
Black Gov Tech | CBC Tech Community Mixer
Where the federal technology workforce and the founders selling into it overlap, with a surprise fireside chat on the program. The host says plainly it will hit capacity, so come early. Consistently one of the best-attended tech rooms of CBC Week.
The Meet Up: DC
AfroTech brings its Meet Up series to Washington. The format travels well: Austin, San Francisco, Detroit, Seattle, and the Vineyard have all had one this year, and they consistently draw the operators actually building rather than the people talking about it. AfroTech's corporate bench is the deepest in Black tech, which is why recruiters show up to these rooms. An afternoon slot on the busiest night of the week, which means you can work this room and still make your evening.
Sports Drive GDP
An approval-only room built for people working in lobbying, local governance, higher education, and high-level athletics. Public RSVP closed on September 6. The intersection of sports money and policy is one of the least crowded lanes in this city, and this is the room where it meets.
BHC Community Connect: CBC Edition
Black Health Connect co-presents with the National Pharmaceutical Association, the National Dental Association, and the National Association of Health Services Executives. A fireside chat with Marvin B. Figueroa, Secretary of Health and Human Resources for Virginia, then a partner panel, then open networking across multiple floors. Four organizations that usually run separate programming, in one room.
Your Industry Is a Network, Not a Job Title
The people who move fastest aren't the most credentialed. They're the most connected. BPN builds those connections year-round, not just conference week.
Legacy & Heritage
For HBCU alumni, Divine Nine members, and culture keepers. The rooms where your school, your letters, or your heritage is the credential — and the introduction is already warm before you walk in.
HBCU, Divine Nine, alumni councils, cultural lineage. Rooms you already belong to, where the introduction is already warm.
The Stogie Social 3.0: CBC Kickoff
The Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi opens the week with cigars and bourbon. Diggs Boys bourbon and Martingale cognac pouring, Stogie Co. and Oasis cigars on site, DJ J-Rock on the music. VIP tables from $400 to $700 with bottle service.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. OLA Chapter CBC Reception
Nine hours at The Park. The Omicron Lambda Alpha chapter invites politicians and candidates across the spectrum: past years brought Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Rep. Bobby Scott, Rep. Steven Horsford, and Rep. Al Green. Business attire, and it stops being free at 9 PM.
Blue and White CBC Social
Zeta Phi Beta's Beta Zeta Chapter, the second-oldest graduate chapter in the sorority and 101 years in DC. Deliberately set away from the Convention Center crowds and metro accessible, with Blue & White specials, food, and music. Sorors, Frat, and friends.
Celebration of Caribbean Heritage and Culture Reception
Hosted by CBC Chairwoman Yvette Clarke herself. When the sitting chair puts her name on a midday reception, the caliber follows.
The Builders Table: HBCU Alumni Dinner w/ Zillow
A seated dinner, not a reception. Techsgiving and Zillow convene a select group of HBCU alumni and DC-based technologists building in product, engineering, and data. Guests are chosen, and the address goes out by email at least 72 hours ahead. Small table, real conversation, and a corporate sponsor with a housing-wealth thesis. This is the format more HBCU alumni events should copy.
Phi Beta Sigma: The Legacy of Leaders Reception
Phi Beta Sigma takes the Potomac Ballroom for fellowship, hors d'oeuvres, and beverages with DJ Eclipse. Two clean hours on the busiest night of the week, which makes it easy to work into an evening rather than build one around.
Iota Phi Theta: Brown & Gold Welcome Reception
Iota Phi Theta's Brown & Gold Public Affairs Committee returns after launching this reception in 2025. Last year brought Congresswoman Shontel Brown and several colleagues; the PAC is building a standing political platform during ALC week. Members of Congress typically extend greetings.
FAMU Alumni & Friends CBC Welcome Reception
The FAMU National Alumni Association welcomes Rattlers and friends to The Park. One of the most consistently well-attended HBCU alumni rooms of the week, and it runs early enough to be your first stop before the Friday night circuit.
CBC Reception & Party
Nine chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, going until 2 AM with DJ Ezzy plus Scooby DaGodson and Sirius Company. Heavy hors d'oeuvres, dress to impress.
CBC Closeout Day Party: 50 Years of Go-Go
The Upper Marlboro/Waldorf (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi closes the weekend by marking 50 years of go-go, with DCVybe live and DJ Weezy. Grown and sexy attire. An afternoon slot that leaves time to change before the evening galas, which is exactly why it works.
Legacy Isn't Inherited. It's Built.
Your letters, your school, and your chapter got you in the door. What you build next is the part BPN exists for.
Become a MemberThe Network Circuit
For connectors and relationship builders. Anyone who knows that the deal rarely closes in the panel room — it closes over a drink four hours later with the person you met that afternoon. Welcome receptions, portraits, brunches, day parties, wrap parties: where everything the week set up actually gets sealed.
The Scramble Tournament: CBC ALC Edition
The Social Golf Association's CBC ALC Week scramble. A relaxed morning on the course built for making connections over eighteen holes, not just at the bar afterward — the network circuit starts early this year.
CBC Welcome Reception
Remy Martin and Senator Nick Charles open the social calendar. Complimentary Remy Martin, signature cocktails, and small bites. This one runs back every year because it is reliably the best-executed room of the early week.
The Network — CBC Happy Hour
Four hours at GAIA on the busiest night of the week. Free, well-located, and an easy first stop before whatever you're doing at nine.
11th Annual CBC Reception
Social Architects run the longest-standing reception on the circuit across four levels with a full dinner menu. Business attire, no exceptions, 21+.
The Monumental Portrait: A Legacy of Leadership
Monumental Men's Network opens FlashMob weekend inside the historic Washington home of Brooks Brothers, their strategic partner for the afternoon: champagne, passed hors d'oeuvres, live jazz, on-site stylists, and made-to-measure fittings. A curated room of Black executives, entrepreneurs, public servants, policymakers, Members of Congress, and cultural leaders, designed not just to gather leaders but to see them, celebrate them, and photograph them together. Black Professionals Network is a sponsoring partner. Your image is public capital, and most professionals are still working with a headshot from three jobs ago.
100 Women of Excellence Brunch
Presented by Brown Girls Brunch. Follows the honoree recognition ceremony at the U.S. Capitol celebrating 100 women for leadership, professional achievement, community service, and advocacy. Thirteenth floor of the National Press Club, and the honorees stay for the brunch.
Annual CBC Power 100 Party
Fifteenth annual, ten hours, a special edition of #ParkFridays built around the CBC Power 100 honoree list. The highest-volume night of the week and the one where you run into everyone you missed. Attire is cocktail / fashion forward, and The Park enforces it.
100 Black Men of Prince George's County CBC Reception
Mentorship, civic leadership, and the PG County professional class. One of the most intergenerational rooms on the calendar.
The Black Party ft. D-Nice
D-Nice on the decks. This is the one night-room that pulls from every other guest list in the city, which is exactly why it is gated.
FlashMob 2026: Monumental Men × Black Menswear
Monumental Men's Network and Black Menswear bring hundreds of sharp-dressed brothers to Capitol Hill, in formation. The organizers expect 250 to 300, and it is the single clearest image of what this community looks like when it shows up together. Two hours, one photograph, and a cultural moment that outlives the weekend. Black Professionals Network is a sponsoring partner. Come dressed.
The Gentlemen's Stroll
Miami's newest walk club for men takes it on the road to DC. Fitness, brotherhood, and open conversation, built to connect men rather than pitch them. Bring another brother. The rare CBC room where nobody's holding a drink and nobody's working an angle, which is exactly why the conversations land differently.
PVO DC: 10AM Vibes
PVO DC's daytime gathering at La Vie: brunch energy, good music, and an upscale-chic crowd getting a head start on Saturday before the day parties take over. Attire: Upscale Chic.
The Capital Collective: An Exclusive CBC Brunch
The Single Mingle DMV and Black Menswear, sponsored by Sir Davis. Where the FlashMob crowd lands after Capitol Hill: five hours of food, music, and networking with the DMV's most dynamic professionals and tastemakers. Come dressed, because Black Menswear's involvement means the room is photographing itself. Brunch tables are booked separately through GAIA.
Ned's Club CBC Wrap Party
Ned's Club opens its doors on the last afternoon, after the crowds have flown home. A private members' club with a view of the White House. No DJ, no line, no step-and-repeat — just the people who stayed. The quietest and highest-net-worth room of the entire week, and the one most people never hear about until it's over.
The Delegation Circuit
For anyone repping a home state. Every state and congressional delegation throws its own room during CBC Week, and these are the fastest warm introductions on the calendar, because the people inside already represent you. Start with where you're from, then work outward.
Our Miami and Broward members should treat this as their home circuit.
This is the deepest bench of the week, and our DC council is on the ground for all of it.
Both delegations converge on one room this year, and it is the hardest ticket of the weekend.
Thursday is Georgia day. All three of these stack cleanly in one afternoon and evening.
Michigan shows up harder than any delegation outside the DMV, with five events across three days.
New Jersey brings Booker twice.
How to Use This Guide
Start with what you need out of this week, not with what night is free. Raising or deploying capital? Start with Capital & Ownership and build the rest of your week around Monday's Africa investment room and Saturday's hotel ownership workshop. Selling into government or working policy? Power & Policy and the ALC Braintrusts are the whole week.
Building in tech, health, transportation, or construction? Industry Rooms will do more for your pipeline than any party. Repping your school, your letters, or your city? Legacy & Heritage and the Delegation Circuit are where your warmest introductions already live. And if you need the energy to be right, The Network Circuit closes it out.
The conference itself runs September 16–20, but the calendar opens Saturday the 12th and the heaviest concentration is Wednesday the 16th through Saturday the 19th. Thursday is the single busiest day of the week. Plan accordingly, and don't try to do more than three rooms a night.
The best rooms don't post links. Insider and Connectors-only RSVPs, door contacts, and BPN allocations are released inside the community space. Join at mybpn.org/join →
